The Scholars Bowl team at De Soto High School competes at academic tournaments across the area between October and February. The team has won four state championships, most recently in 2018. Last year, De Soto High School hosted the KSHSAA 5A State Championship for the second consecutive year. The team's head coach is Phillip Hamilton and the assistant coach is Philip Kaul. De Soto High School hosted the KSHSAA Class 5A State Scholars Bowl Tournament on Saturday, February 13th, 2021. The Wildcats also qualified for the tournament after a Regional Runner Up finish.
