Debaters’ Third-Place Finish at State Best in School History

After three days of competition, Ryan Handley and Hunter Finerty emerge as one of the top teams at the KSHSAA 5A Two-Speaker Tournament. After finishing 5-1 in preliminary rounds, Hunter and Ryan advance past Pittsburg in the Quarterfinals before finally dropping to the state runner-up Shawnee Heights. The De Soto Debate program competed in the Basehor-Linwood Invitational on Saturday, November 23rd. Congratulations to the program on finishing in 2nd place overall. Kaitlin Torres and Kaitlyn Tait also took 2nd as an individual team.
