Band Participates at Tuba Christmas

All District Band Members Perform

The NEKMEA All District Band members performed this past Saturday at Blue Valley High School. Members consisted of Jaycie Thaemert, Kayla Deghand, Sam Howe, Jared Schneider, Logan Patterson, Megan Wilkerson, Evan Sullivan, Zach Yarbrough, Matthew Lynn, Samuel Seidl, Lucas Johnson, and Riley Mead.

Wrestling Season Underway

Our Wrestlers began practice on November 16th and had their first varsity competition at the Spring Hill Dual Tournament on Friday, December 4th. The Wrestlers went 1-4 as a team while competing with 4 open weights.They defeated Shawnee Mission South, but lost to Olathe Northwest, Blue Valley, Blue Valley West and 3rd ranked Chanute. Top performers were

Girls Basketball Season

Basketball season started on November 16th. The Varsity’s first game will be on Wednesday, December 9th vs. Southwest Early Collge out of Kansas City, MO. This will game will be part of the Huhtamaki Hardwood Classic Basketball Tournament held at De Soto High School. Boys Basketball Season

Basketball season started on November 16th. The Varsity’s first game will be on Friday, December 4th vs. Smithville High School in Smithville, MO. This will also be the JV’s first game as well. JV will play at 5:30 and Varsity will follow. The Varsity squad will then return home and play in the Huhtamaki Hardwood

Huhtamaki Hardwood Classic

De Soto High School will be hosting the 1st ever Huhtamaki Hardwood Classic Basketball Tournament during the week of Dec. 8th – 12th. Science Olympiad Competes at Olathe East

Science Olympiad competed at the “O-Town Throwdown Invitational” at Olathe East on Saturday. The team finished 16th overall and Kay Craven placed 3rd in “Dynamic Planet”, Cody Moose and Zach Deibert placed 3rd in “It’s About Time.” Other students participating were Henry Cahoone, Jessica Roberts, Alysha Bell, Micah Faulds, and Jack Craven.

JV Scholars Bowl Takes 2nd

The JV Scholars Bowl team recently competed at Maranatha Academy. The team consisted of Lexi Marshall, Julia Cloverdale, Jack Barger, Kay Craven, and Emma Chacey. This team finished the competition with an overall record of 8-2 and took 2nd place overall.

Varsity Scholars Bowl takes 2nd Place

Varsity Scholars Bowl recently competed at Eudora on November 18th. The team consisted of Jaycie Thaemert, Dawson Field, Cody Moose, Emma Goldsby, Sam Siedl, and Simon Couch. This team finished the evening with an 8-1 record and took 2nd place overall.
