Varsity Cross Country · Cross Country Completes Regular Season at Cat Classic

The De Soto high school cross country team competed in their final regular season race Wednesday afternoon in the Mill Valley Cat Classic at Shawnee Mission Park. Vinnie Capling (33) and Nicole Schottler (12) led the way for the varsity boys and girls respectively.

Jack Loomis (50), Aydan VanMeerhaeghe (52), Brady Hudelson (63), Owen Gier (66), Kaleb Barnes (70), and Keaton Higgins (75) also ran for the varsity boys, helping them finish ninth with a score of 230.

Jack Peterman (89) was the first to cross the finish line for the junior varsity boys. He was followed by Jamie Brown (94), Okko Sinisalo (136), Reed Richards (138), Axel Gutierrez (142), and Colby Loomis (181).

The cross country team enters the postseason this Thursday, racing in the inaugural United Kansas Conference meet at Wyandotte County Park. The Wildcats face off against conference members Leavenworth, Shawnee Heights, Basehor-Lindwood, Lansing, and Turner at 4:00 pm to see who will be crowned individual and team champions of the UKC.
