Varsity Cross Country · Cross Country Races in Seaman Invitational – Boys 3rd, Girls 6th


The De Soto high school cross country team raced in the Seaman Cross Country Invitational Saturday in Topeka. The varsity and junior varsity boys both earned third place and the varsity girls placed sixth out of ten teams. Individual times continue to improve as many Wildcat runners crossed the finish line with a new, personal best.

The varsity boys were led by Carson Sturdy (5) who finished with a time of 16:32. Graham Hudelson (12), Chase Culver (16), Brady Huggins (23), Kyle Newberry (24), Henry Rokusek (29), Jack Loomis (34), Aydan VanMeerhaeghe (40), Vinnie Capling (43) and Clayton Tilly (55) each helped the team score 80 and finish third.

Each of the varsity girls ran their fastest times of the season led by Katelyn Gress (9) who finished in 20:56. Lane Hileman (28), Erin Pickert (29), Rylie McDaniel (30), and Allison Roy (39) posted new best times as the girls finished sixth scoring 135.

The junior varsity boys and girls were led by Conner Gibson (3) and Rees Hill (66) respectively, with many other JV runners earning a new personal best time of their own (see individual times from Saturday below).

The next race for the cross country team is Wednesday afternoon at the Cat Classic in Shawnee Mission Park.
