Saturday’s relay meet at Lansing High School was an unconventional meet, but a fantastic way to get psyched about the sport of swimming as the 2017-2018 swim season was officially kicked off! A relay meet requires numbers, but despite only taking seven swimmers, De Soto High School was still well represented. DHS had three swimmers participate in their first ever high school swim meet. We had swimmers try new events and surprise themselves as they conquered the fear of the unknown and proved a new talent to themselves. Each event brought about a different accomplishment at all different levels and Coach Alissa Ruffin said, “I look forward to recapping the meet at practice with the athletes.”
The following relay teams earned points for the De Soto Wildcats
200 medley relay team of Cole Peterson, Andre VanMeerhaeghe, Jose Banuelos, and Andrew Blazo finished 10th.
100 free relay team of Curt Baker, Cale Marquis, Nick Rogers, and Andre VanMeerhaeghe finished 11th.
100 medley relay team of Cole Peterson, Curt Baker, Andrew Blazo and Eli Gratz finished 9th.
