Nominations: Nominations for the De Soto High School Hall of Fame will be accepted until March 1st of each calendar year to be considered for the current year induction class. Individuals become eligible 5 years after their graduation year. The Hall of Fame Selection Committee will meet for induction considerations during that period. Depending on when the Committee meets to consider nominees for induction, Inductees will be formally inducted during the month of August of the following year. All individuals receiving a nomination must have been a student in good standing or currently a citizen in good standing.

  • Display: The Hall of Fame will be displayed on the wall to the south of the Main Gym opposite of the weight room.

A nominee for the De Soto High School Hall of Fame can be nominated in one or more of the following categories:

1. Academics

  • De Soto High School Graduate
  • Minimum of FIVE years out of high school
  • Examples may include but are not limited to: National Merit Scholar Finalist, Valedictorian, scholarships, Perfect ACT/SAT, memorable academic accomplishments above and beyond the norm while attending De Soto High School

2. Activities /Athletics

  • De Soto High School Graduate
  • Minimum of FIVE years out of high school
  • Team/Group or Individual Accomplishments
  • Examples may include but are not limited to: All League, All Metro, All State, State Placer, Media Player of the Year, League, Regional, Sub-State, State Championships, 1st Chair, college success, pro athletic success, memorable accomplishments above and beyond the norm

3. Coaches/Sponsors

  • Minimum of FIVE years coaching at De Soto High School, Head or Assistant coaching experience
  • Coaching accomplishments
  • Can be a current or former coach who is not currently coaching at De Soto High School
  • Examples may include but are not limited to: Team Records, Coaching Record, Championships: League,Sub-State, Regional, State, Overall impact on students and/or school, etc.

4. Distinguished Service

  • Loyal and devoted supporter of De Soto High School (DHS Alum Not Required)
  • Exceptional character and role model for students and/or student-athletes (DHS Alum Not Required)
  • Military and/or Public Service, Career Accomplishments (MUST be DHS Alum)

Selection Process and Recognition

1. Names for nominations will be submitted online and come directly to the Hall of Fame Selection Committee. Nominations can come from anyone or by the committee members themselves. Each nomination will consist of a typed resume of the candidate’s credentials and achievements, plus a 500 word (maximum) narrative by the nominator in support of the nomination.

2. All nominations will be screened thoroughly based on the Hall of Fame Criteria.

3. To be placed on a ballot, the candidate must be nominated and seconded by someone on the Hall of Fame Selection Committee.

4. Once nominated, a candidate will continue to be evaluated by the Hall of Fame Selection Committee with no further nomination required.

5. To be elected to the De Soto High School Hall of Fame a candidate must receive at least 70% votes from the selection committee. Once inducted into the Hall of Fame, individuals are expected to continue to exemplify the qualities of good character, citizenship, and personal integrity, both while at De Soto High School and throughout life. Inability to do so could result in removal from the Hall of Fame.

6. In the event that a committee member is being considered as a candidate for the De Soto High School Hall of Fame, that committee member will not vote and must receive a minimum of 70% votes to be elected
